Wireless
Security
Wireless access points have a number of "built in" security-orientated
features. These basic "built in" features can be compared
to the built in security features of a new car. For example, car door
locks, engine immobilizer and alarm can act as a deterrent, however
if thieves (hackers) really want your car (network) these features
alone will not stop them. When all of these "built in" features
are utilised, wireless LAN users are ensuring that they have taken
every precaution possible. Thieves would rather go to the car with
keys in the ignition, than one locked, with the immobiliser and alarm
turned on.
Our Wireless Audit's will address "built
in" features including:
Extended service set ID (ESSID or SSID)
MAC filters list
Wired equivalent privacy (WEP)
